What is Decollete Aesthetics?

One of the most important goals in breast aesthetics is to achieve a symmetrical and good decollete appearance. The décolleté area includes the upper part of the breast that is not covered by the bra. There are many factors affecting the characteristics of this region. Patients with drooping or small breasts want the décolleté area to be filled, while patients with large breasts want the décolleté area to be reduced. Breast reduction patients usually do not have any problems with the appearance of the décolleté.

Silicone breast implants are the first choice for filling the décolleté area. While choosing the implant, the natural borders of the breast and the dimensions suitable for the base diameter of the breast should be preferred. When a bottle is filled with water, first the bottom and then the top of the bottle are filled. The same is true for décolleté fullness. The larger the breast implant is placed in the body, the more the décolleté area will be filled. Sub-muscular and super-muscular placement of implants also affects décolleté fullness. Since the chest muscle also covers the implant in the implants placed behind the muscle, the fullness of the décolleté is higher than the implants placed over the muscle. However, this may not be desired in every patient. In patients who want more natural results, over-muscle implants can provide a more natural appearance. The shapes of the implants placed also affect the fullness of the décolleté area. Both drop and round implants not only enlarge the breast, but also fill the décolleté area. The appearance of the drop-shaped implants mimics the normal breast silhouette. The side views of round shaped implants are dome shaped. While similar voluminous round implants provide a fuller cleavage appearance, drop-shaped breast implants create a more natural breast silhouette. Drop-shaped breast implants give more natural results, especially in women who are thin and have no breast tissue.
